John and the Wind
Long time ago, there lived a middle-aged man named John Windesh. He was a man with a very big jealousy problem. But to others, jealousy wasn't the big problem. John's anger that came with the jealousy was. It wasn't much of a big deal to anyone but Zeus and Hera at first. But after a while, it became a huge problem to the whole greek kingdom and other people for centuries to come. Have you ever wondered where those gusty winds come from? Ever wanted someone to blame your messy, windblown hair on? Ever wondered why there's wind in the first place? All of the answers to these questions have one thing in common...they involve John Windesh.
John Windesh was madly in love with Hera. He didn't care at all about the fact that she was married to the most powerful God, Zeus.
"Nothing and no one can get in the way of my love for you", John would tell Hera.
But Hera would only ignore him. Zeus would do the same. John would read her beautiful poetry from the outside of her bedroom window, and she would ignore him. Whenever Hera would come out of her castle, John would take her by the hand and say things like,
"Hera, you're the air I can't breathe without. Please don't let me die and become my wife."
Hera, as always, ignored him.
There came a time when John became tired of Hera not giving him any attention. He became angry and began to think hard. He came to the conclusion that maybe words weren't enough. So he went to the best jewlery seller in the kingdom.
"Give me the goldest, biggest ring you have to fit my future soon-to-be wife," John told the old man who sold the jewelry.
The man showed him the most precious 14-karot gold ring he had.
"This will cost you quite a penny. A penny I wouldn't spend on anyone but a goddess," he said.
"That's exactly who the ring is for," said John with a grin on his face.
John gave the man the money and put the ring and it's case in his pocket. He knew this was sure to win Hera's heart.
The next day, John waited for Hera to come out of her castle by the gates. He waited for hours and hours. But it was all worth it to him when Hera came out and showed off her wonderful beauty. Hera walked by and tried to ignore him, but John walked up to her and took her hand.
"Oh don't touch me you filthy, dirty old man," yelled Hera.
John opened the case and asked for her marriage.
"It's beautiful darling," she said with a smile forming on her face.
Then she slapped John and frowned.
"How dare you ask for my marriage when you know I'm married to Zeus?"
John stood up and said,"So that's what is stopping you from loving me. Your know-it-all husband Zeus! I hate that man!"
"This is coming to an end right now. Zeus, Zeus!," Hera called.
Zeus came out of the castle.
"What is it my dear?" He then looked at John and said, "Not you again. I'm not ignoring you and your stupidness with my wife any longer. I rule around here, and you are to be rid of. Guards, take this man away and make sure he's never let into the kingdom again."
The guards grabbed John. John became extrememly angry.
"Oh, so Mr. Ruler of the World can't do his own job, hmm? He's a weak creature isn't he? Ha! A goddess as beautfiul as she doesn't deserve you," said John.
Zeus told him,"That's not true and I'll prove it. You want me to be the one to get rid of you? I will. Guards, get me two swords."
A while later, the guards came back with the swords. One sword was given to Zeus and the other was given to John.
The only reason I didn't take you out of this kingdom earlier was because I was willing to give you chances on leaving Hera alone. But your chances are over," said Zeus while he fought John with his sword.
"Be afraid Zeus. Be very afraid. You're about to die and when you do...Hera will be mine!," screamed John with great anger on his face.
Hera was off to the side watching everything with teary eyes. Zeus and John kept fighting. John looked terribly upset. His eyes were red and he had tight jaws. It all came to an end when Zeus stabbed John. But did it really end?
"Noooo!," yelled John breathing heavily and stamping his feet.
John breathed harder and harder. He then breathed so hard, the trees, houses and everything in the kingdom blew away. By the time you knew it, Zeus, Hera and half the kingdom, including John, were blown away and never seen again.
What is known today as wind (because of John's last name, Windesh) is usually part of the weather. It is believed that whenever John is angry, he breathes so heavy, he creates wind. John is still angry over the fact that he never won Hera's heart. Whenever you don't feel any wind outside, it can be either because John's sleeping or that he's actually calm. Can the wind we feel really be coming out of someone's mouth? It's highly possible. But just remember, whenever you feel a breeze, it's because of John Windesh's jealousy and anger.
